SWINGIN’ WITH THE BIG BANDS GALA EVENT AND FUNDRAISER

LA VERNE, CA – January 16, 2012 — The big band sounds of the 30’s & 40’s come alive once again at the historic Fox Theater in the Art District of Pomona, CA on Friday, March 2, 2012.  The award winning Bonita High School Jazz Ensemble with guest singers from the nationally recognized BHS Chamber Singers pays homage to the big band era with their annual fundraiser “Swingin’ with the Big Bands”.

This Gala Event and Fundraiser kicks off with the social hour at 6PM with non-alcoholic cash bar, then professionally catered dinner is served at 7PM, with music and dancing starting at 8PM.  You won’t want to miss this spectacular evening of entertainment.  Throughout the evening there will be a Silent Auction and Raffles that will offer a wide variety of prizes.

Tickets are available online at http://shop.lvbba.org.  All proceeds from this event benefit the Bonita High School Band & Color Guard programs.

“These students work hard year-round to hone their skills in preparation for competing and entertaining all over Southern California”, states Jeff Bird, Director of Band at Bonita High School.

Saturday, November 19th, 2011 the Marching Bearcats will be traveling to Huntington Beach High School for SCJA Championships. The following information outlines our plans for the day.

Itinerary:

• 2:00 pm – Call time / rehearsal
• 3:00 pm – Load buses and trailer (Parent Call Time)
• 3:30 pm – Depart for Huntington Beach HS
• 4:30 pm – Arrive at Huntington Beach – unload, dress out
• 5:10 pm – Warm-up and play through music
• 5:40 pm – To the gate
• 6:00 pm – Perform
• 6:15 pm – Return to buses, load truck, change clothes, return to stands
• 9:40 pm – Awards
• 10:15 pm – Load buses
• 10:30 pm – Depart for BHS
• 11:15 pm – Arrive at BHS

The Band Boosters will be bringing uniforms to change into at the competition. Students must have their band t-shirts, white t-shirts, shoes, gloves and black socks to board the bus. Students may have bottled water and healthy snacks on the bus on the way to the competition. No other candy or soda will be allowed on the ride to the competition. Thursday, November 17th, 2011, the Bonita High School Jazz Ensemble will be traveling to the A-Z Bus Company in Colton to perform for a holiday luncheon. The following information outlines our plans for the day.

Itinerary:

• 9:15 AM Load buses and truck with instruments & equipment
• 9:30 AM Leave for A-Z Bus Service
• 10:30 AM Arrive at A-Z, unload setup
• 11:15 AM warm-up
• 11:30 PM Performance time
• 1:00 PM Lunch
• 1:30 PM Pack up, Load bus
• 1:45 PM Depart for Bonita
• 2:45 PM Return to Bonita

Jazz Ensemble members will have an opportunity to change clothes at the performance site.

Students must bring all performance materials with them or they will not perform. Parents will not be sent back to the school to bring equipment for which students should be responsible. If you have any questions, feel free to call Mr. Bird at 909-964-64871.

• 12:00 pm – Call time, load trailer
• 12:15 pm – Load busses
• 12:30 pm – Depart for Chaffey High School
• 1:00 pm – Arrive at Chaffey High School/Unload/dress out
• 1:45 pm – Warm-up and play thru music
• 2:25 pm – To the gate
• 2:47 pm – Perform
• 3:00 pm – Return to buses, load truck,change clothes, return to stands
• 4:30 pm – Awards
• 5:00 pm – Load busses
• 5:15 pm – Depart for BHS
• 5:45 pm – Arrive at BHS
